ennio-morricone show this—a repeated experience had by one of the most fiscally successful woman directors in hollywood—to ur anon asking about the struggle women filmmakers have in the film industry

Yeah, but dear God…she made the *first Twilight movie.

she made A twilight movie, the first one, earned the largest amount of box office revenue for any woman director (until sam taylor-johnson with fifty shades of grey), and was still fired and replaced by men directors for the sequels. i don’t care if she’s not your type. she was VERY SUCCESSFUL and STILL got fired because they didn’t think she was “right for the job.”

It’s funny how so many people are fine with throwing twilight under the bus on this website, even after all this time. Even if you think twilight and Bella were ‘problematic trash’ there still is so many girls who don’t see it that way and embraced a series they loved even after being ridiculed for just enjoying something. The fact of the matter is, the first twilight was directed by a woman, the screenplay was written by a woman, based on a hugely popular series by a woman and starring a legit Teenage girl. People like to forget Kristen was 17 when she shot it and only 18 when it was released. The fact of the matter is without twilight being as huge as it was, with a huge female fanbase other YA series with female protags would likely have not gotten a movie but after twilights success the film companies wanted to capitalize. So twilight is actually owed a lot imho
