This was the first work I completed for my solo exhibition, Flood. The whole idea behind the show was to explore emotional states. The water in all the works is a metaphor for our inner workings: our thoughts our feelings and emotions. They’re unpredictable and chaotic, yet continuous and endless like the waves. So to try fight against them, is like trying to hold water with your bare hands. But, what if we surrendered ourselves to these floods of emotions? What if we let all of those feelings flood in, and simply go with the flow. To feel fear, to feel calmness, to feel love. To feel it all completely, but know that it’ll be okay.
Let’s Dance with the Dark was about fear and doubt, how it can weave itself all around you and cripple you until you’re powerless. But there is comfort in knowing that even through all the fear, you’re not alone.
why do so many “icarus and the sun” artworks and stories portray the sun as a woman? do y’all know who controlled the sun? apollo. icarus is gay as fuck, y’all.
Sometimes it was helios, not Apollo. Icarus was still gay as fuck
“Icarus we just escaped prison don’t ruin it by flying too close to the sun”
[Icarus already fucking launching himself across the sky for the sake of some godly dick]
